The bars belong to the world. The bloom belongs to the soul. This painting was created during one of the low periods of life , a challenging time which questioned my ability to take decisions without the frills of emotions attached to them. It carried a powerful sense of hope and faith in God. The dark brick walls and the iron bars suggest confinement by my own mind and hurt ego. However the Golden lotus is the soul , radiating light , resilience and responsible for inner awakening. The butterflies resting on the bars, drawn to the light signify transformation into something new. A new way of looking at life. And learning. The prayer beads of course add the spiritual , signifying that the path to overcome these challenges is not material but spiritual and liberation only comes from within.
