Select Size:
Fifteen inches of seasoned Kashmiri walnut, carved until the border reads like a flowerbed. Rows of chrysanthemum rosettes run the full rim, gathering into spiralling fan medallions at the corners, and the edge follows the blossoms so the outline itself is scalloped. The centre is left plain on purpose - a smooth field of walnut figure where the teacups, the dry fruit, the Diwali sweets actually sit. Both handles are carved from the same plank rather than fitted later, so there are no joins to work loose, ever. Finished with wax and nothing synthetic, which is why the wood glows instead of shining. Carry it out for guests and it does half the hosting for you. Between visits, leave it on the table - it holds its own as sculpture.
