Shilpnidhi — an Artiure initiative
Select Size:
The turquoise is left almost entirely empty, and that is the whole idea. A white elephant walks across it in ceremonial dress - a patterned blanket on its back, anklets, a small crown between its ears, trunk curled upward, which in Rajasthani painting means fortune rising rather than falling. There is no border crowding it, no vine filling the gaps. Just an animal and a lot of open sky. Quartz-bodied, hand-painted and low-fired in Jaipur. Restraint like this is unusual in the craft and it makes the plate easy to live with. Hang it in a room that is already full.
