The ground here is a pale aqua rather than a deep blue, which changes the whole temperature of the plate - lighter, cooler, closer to water than to night. Yellow flowers are scattered across it in loose rhythm, each with a small dark heart, and navy leaves cut between them in sharp strokes that keep the softness from going sleepy. Made by hand in Jaipur on a quartz-paste body, painted freehand, glazed and fired once at low heat. This is a good plate for a pale room - one of the few in the set that will not fight white walls. Hang it with two others in the same key.
